A great egret perched upon a dinghy on a waterway of Lake Izabal in Guatemala.
Lake Izabal (Lago de Izabal) is the largest lake in Guatemala; the area is one of the world’s most bio diverse regions.
Lake Izabal is a fresh water lake that flows via the Rio Dulce out into the Caribbean Sea at Livingston, a coastal town.
I had traveled from Belize to Livingston, Guatemala by bus and water taxi and down the Rio Dulce into Lake Izabal by lancha. I encountered this egret while exploring one of the many waterways off the Lake.
